He is a Sámi musician who is inspired by the Sea. But Climate change is causing the Sami to lose their language and is badly impacting their identity. This is a story about music, language and culture change due to climate change.

In recent years, Emil has seen how the fjord where he grew up has changed. Both as a result of melting glaciers and because of fish farming, which has made it impossible for him to fish in the fjord anymore.

‘It’s a shame that it’s us who have always been close to the sea who have to suffer first,’ says Emil.

This report is part of the documentary ‘Voices of our Ocean’, which is being shown in connection with the UN’s ongoing climate summit in Brazil. In their own words and with selected images, they talk about their relationship with the sea, the urgent need to protect it and how climate change is affecting and transforming their lives. Hear each of them share their story.
