    Bottom Trawling in the Swedish Kosterhavet Marine National Park May Continue

    Although a general ban on bottom trawling in marine protected areas has been in force since 1 July this year, exceptions are now being made. The Swedish Agency for Marine and Water Management has today decided that shrimp fishing may continue in Kosterfjorden-Väderöfjorden for an indefinite period. In Gullmarsfjorden, shrimp fishing is to be phased out and completely banned by July 2027.

    Continued Bottom Trawling in Sweden’s Marine Protected Areas

    The Swedish Parliament has decided to ban bottom trawling in marine protected areas. The ban is due to come into force on 1 July this year. At the same time, they have made room for exceptions, and the Swedish Agency for Marine and Water Management (HaV) is now proposing that this should apply to Kosterhavet National Park.
