Billions Worth of Russian Fish Imports – Via China
Russian fish worth billions is imported into the EU via China, according to a new report by the European Parliament.
Despite the EU imposing sanctions on Russian seafood in particular, EU countries still import mainly cod and pollock from Russia, worth around SEK 7 billion a year.
In addition, Russian fish products worth at least another SEK 6 billion arrive via China, according to a report presented to the European Parliament’s Committee on Fisheries on Wednesday.
‘Deeply shameful,’ says Swedish MEP Isabella Lövin (MP), who is demanding that the Swedish government push for a total ban on Russian fish imports.
‘We need to look at all the options we have to put pressure on Putin and his war economy,’ Lövin writes in a statement via text message.
