01 Nov, 2026

Bolivia’s President Rodrigo Paz has declared a national state of emergency due to El Niño. The aim is to free up resources to deal with the consequences of the climate phenomenon.

The state of emergency also means that more rescue teams are being deployed to those parts of the country that have been severely affected by El Niño.

‘This will be a phenomenon with serious consequences in the form of drought and flooding, and we need cooperation between all institutions,’ says Paz.
